SimPhone Pro provides nursing faculty with comprehensive tools to monitor student performance, manage realistic EHR patient scenarios, grade both communication and documentation, and provide real-time guidance during simulations. This guide covers all faculty features and best practices.
College codes are verified securely on our servers and are never displayed or listed anywhere in the app. If you forget your code, contact your administrator β it cannot be looked up from inside the platform.
After logging in you land on the Faculty Monitor, which is organized into tabs:
Each active student appears as a card in the Live Monitor tab showing:
Click "View Session" on any live or completed session to open a slide-in panel with tabs for:
The drawer header also includes a π¨οΈ Chart PDF button that downloads a complete PDF of the patient chart plus everything the student documented in the session β useful for offline review, accreditation files, or printed debriefs.
ISBARR scoring: The drawer shows a live keyword-based estimate during an active session. The final AI score (which uses the patient's actual clinical context) is calculated once the student ends the call.
Students place calls with the floating green phone button available on every chart screen, which opens a provider directory for the patient's unit. During a call they can minimize the conversation to a live banner and continue charting, then return to the call at any time. Expect students to be reading and documenting in the EHR while the call is open.
In the π¬ Live Call tab, type in the reply box at the bottom and press Enter or click Send. Your message appears in the student's call panel in real time and is read aloud like a live phone call. The student sees it attributed to the provider they called.
Use the tool buttons above the reply box to escalate the scenario mid-call:
For both live and completed sessions, you can manually override the AI-generated ISBARR score:
Open a session's detail drawer and select π EHR Review to see everything the student charted during that session:
Enter a score from 0 to 100 and an optional feedback note, then save. The EHR documentation grade is stored on the session separately from the ISBARR communication score, so you can evaluate charting quality and handoff communication independently.
When a student places a lab or imaging order during a session, you can enter the result value, units, reference range, and a flag (Normal, High, Low, Critical High, Critical Low). The result appears in the student's diagnostics section, where they must acknowledge it. Use critical results to drive escalation and a follow-up provider call.
Navigate to the π₯ Patient Charts tab to:
When building cases, always include:
From the π Notes tab in any session drawer, you can add clinical notes that supplement the chart. Use these to provide additional context, document observations, or create structured scenarios that require students to seek information proactively.
The π Analytics tab shows class-wide aggregate data including:
Tip: Apply a cohort filter in the Completed Sessions tab first, then navigate to Analytics to scope results to that cohort.
The π Weekly Reports tab compiles session data automatically every Monday morning β no manual reporting needed:
From the β Completed Sessions tab, use the export buttons to download:
When a faculty score override has been applied, all exports use the overridden score rather than the AI-generated score.
Use the π₯ Cohorts tab to control cohorts centrally:
Students pick their cohort at login, and you can assign or change the cohort from a completed session's detail drawer. Once cohorts exist:
Use the π Schedule tab to run sign-ups for lab time without external tools:
Your college code controls all student and faculty access. Share it only with currently enrolled students. The code is stored securely and is never readable from within the app β not by students, and not by faculty accounts. Student session capacity is set at the administrator level; contact your admin if you need the limit adjusted or the code reset.
The roster is the source of truth for who may use your college's account and which cohort they belong to:
Click Promote Cohort to move an entire cohort into the next term's cohort, or archive it when the course ends. Student charts and session history are always preserved, and every promotion is written to the audit log.
SimDoc Pro is the students' post-clinical charting workspace. They create their own charts (patient initials only β no protected information), document across 15 clinical modules, track completeness, and export a branded PDF to submit to you.
The π Audit Log tab is a running history of administrative actions for your college: roster additions and updates, cohort promotions and archives, access-setting changes, and chart section assignments β each with who performed it and when. Use it for accreditation documentation and for reconciling roster changes across a teaching team.
